Protest action kicks off on Saturday, February 21, 2026, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Stuttgart-Vaihingen,
SchwabenGalerie square, followed by a march to the closing rally at 2:00 p.m. in front of the entrance to US
EUCOM (Patch Main Gate, Hauptstraße 189).
On the occasion of the global day of action by the GLOBAL peace movement “World Beyond War” against US military bases around the world, we call on everyone to demonstrate for the closure of the US command
centers EUCOM and AFRICOM in Stuttgart-Vaihingen and Stuttgart-Möhringen. EUCOM (EUropean
COMmand) is responsible for US Army military operations in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East,
including the Gulf region. It commands the conventional and nuclear forces of the US, in particular the
nuclear bombs stationed in Europe and Germany, including in Büchel. The decision to launch a nuclear strike rests solely with US President Donald Trump; Germany has no say in the matter! Among other things,
AFRICOM coordinates drone missions in Africa and the Middle East that violate international law.
In view of the deployment of new US medium-range weapons in Germany in 2026, with the capability of a
decapitation strike in Russia, the danger of nuclear war in Europe continues to rise. The target would then be the US EUCOM in Stuttgart, which is located directly adjacent to the Vaihingen residential area.
Germany is increasingly becoming NATO's hub in Europe and is the starting point for US military
interventions and drone wars that violate international law. The US aggression against Iran in 2025 and
support for Israel's war policy in the Middle East are also being carried out from US military bases in
Germany.
We demand the withdrawal of all US nuclear weapons and US soldiers from Germany and the closure
of all military bases! No deployment of new US medium-range weapons! War must never again be
waged from German soil!
We advocate new nuclear and conventional disarmament initiatives and a new common security
policy in Europe, which can only be achieved through confidence-building measures and mutual
arms control.
In the current state election campaign [Baden-Württemberg], we call on all candidates to advocate
for the closure of EUCOM and AFRICOM. Stuttgart must finally become a city of peace!
Military bases, especially foreign ones -- current and sought -- generate wars.
The United States has used its bases in Latin America and the Caribbean
to attack Venezuela, while threatening to take over Greenland to build
more bases there. Iran is bordered by seven nations with U.S. bases. The
nations to the south and east of China are packed with U.S. bases, as
is Europe, as is Israel. Africa has foreign bases from several empires.
Russia is making more use of its bases in Belarus.
Closing bases is a necessary step to shift the global security paradigm towards a demilitarized approach that centers common security — no one is safe until all are safe. Join us in taking action to call for the closure of ALL military bases!
