Event Type: Hybrid (In-Person & Virtual Option)
A virtual link will be communicated before the event.

On Tuesday, March 24th at 9:00am, on Webex and in person, at 89 Kings Hwy SW, Dover, DE 19901 the Coastal Zone Act Industrial Control Board will hear from Starwood Venture Capital in their appeal of the status decision that banned their project from operating in the Coastal Zone. Let us know you're coming so we can share resources and updates. You MUST register with DNREC in order to speak:

To register, email DNREC_CZICB_Appeals@delaware.gov with your name, how you plan to attend the hearing (virtually or in-person), your phone number and your address. Please also note if you are representing yourself, a company or an organization. If you are unsure how you will be attending, you may indicate that in your email.

We recommend that everybody draft 1-3 minute-long comments about the impact of Project Washington (PW) on the local ecology and communities.

Comments should focus on three things, primarily, though all comments are good comments:
  • The potential for pollution from the noise, the diesel generators (all 516 of them), and the fuel storage of millions of gallons of diesel fuel on site
  • The fact that the Coastal Zone Act prohibits fuel tanks in excess of 5acres, and PW has more than 5 acres of total fuel storage
  • The number of generators is larger than any Coastal Zone or non-Coastal Zone project and will have severe impacts on the local ecology, especially as PJM looks to kick data centers off the grid if they don't bring their own energy
For any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to Marissa McClenton (marissa.mcclenton@sierraclub.org)

Bring: Prepare comments *about Project Washington and its pollution impacts* that are 1-3 minutes long. Be prepared for comments to be cut down to 1 minute. (Energy is not often considered in the CZA.
