Collective Courage: A Free Community Training for Resisting Authoritarianism
Start: Tuesday, May 12, 2026•05:30 PM
End: Tuesday, May 12, 2026•08:30 PM
Location: Seattle• Downtown (RSVP for address), Seattle, WA 98101 US

When tyrants seize power for themselves, ordinary people step in to take it back.
From Serbia to Chile to Poland, movements brought down authoritarian regimes by making them impossible to run — through strikes, boycotts, refusal, and millions of ordinary people deciding they wouldn't consent to harm each other. But they didn't wake up one morning and know how. Showing up to get trained is part of that tradition.
With the 2026 elections approaching, the next step in their playbook is clear: Trump wants to seize and hold power by keeping people from voting and controlling who counts. This is the moment to get ready — to build skills, expand our networks, and defend our power at the polls and beyond!
This free, interactive training will leave you with a clearer sense of strategy, a stronger community, and practical ways to take action.
We'll cover:
The authoritarian playbook — and how to disrupt it
Lessons from movements that won
How to prepare for mass noncooperation
Your next steps for strategic action
Collective courage for the path ahead
Join the more than 1 million people who have participated in Freedom Trainers trainings nationwide.
This training is free and open to everyone ready to build real power to protect our communities — whether you're brand new or have been organizing for years. It's hosted in partnership with Freedom Trainers PWN Hub, Troublemakers, and WA Neighborhood Defense, and Indivisible Civil Resistance of Seattle, and is part of the national Protest: Respect It, Defend It, Use It book tour.
We'll have free Ben & Jerry's ice cream, light bites, and Lush self-care products to share — because resistance is stronger when we take care of each other.
Join us the day before for a Protest book talk on May 11, 7pm, at Elliot Bay Bookstore to get inspired — then come ready to build skills and take action.
