For the second meeting, we will be reading the second chapter (titled Proletarians and Communists) of the "Communist Manifesto" (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/) and points 14-23 of "The Principles of Communism" by Friedrich Engels (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1847/11/prin-com.htm).
Optionally, we will also be reading and discussing Marx's thoughts on the Paris Commune, the transition to communism, and an excerpt from Capital called "The Realm of Necessity and the Realm of Freedom." Additionally we will read "Demands of the Communist Party in Germany, March 1848" (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/03/24.htm). Reading selections for this group are sourced from "The Communist Manifesto" edited by Phil Gasper (https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/2107-the-communist-manifesto).
