Chapter Reading Group for Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels "The Communist Manifesto" (1848) -- all are welcome, even if you aren't actually doing the reading! Come to discuss and learn from your comrades.

This event is HYBRID. We'll be meeting in person from 10am-11:30am at the Social Justice Center (1202 Williamson St) on Saturdays February 21, February 28, and March 7. Feel free to attend in person or on Zoom!

PLEASE RSVP TO ACCESS THE ZOOM LINK AND LOG IN INFORMATION!

For the third (and last!) meeting, we will be reading chapters 3 and 4 (titled Socialist and Communist Literature + Position of the Communists in Relation to the Various Existing Opposition Parties) of the "Communist Manifesto" (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/).

Optionally, we will also be reading and discussing Engels's thoughts on women's oppression and the emergence of classes and the state (from The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State, chapter 2 and 3 https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1884/origin-family/index.htm) and Marx's legacy (from Engel's speech at Marx's funeral (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1883/death/burial.htm). Reading selections for this group are sourced from "The Communist Manifesto" edited by Phil Gasper (https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/2107-the-communist-manifesto).
