Community Defense Volunteer Training:
Rapid Response Team
When: Friday, April 25, 2025 • 6:00 PM
Where: Hybrid Training. Please register to receive the Zoom link or the in-person address.
Please Note: Due to the sensitive nature of this training, an El Pueblo Unido team member will personally follow up with each registration to confirm participation. Our in-person training will be held at a trusted, private sanctuary space, not open to the public. ICE is not welcomed here.
What: El Pueblo Unido will be training volunteers to join our Rapid Response Team, which monitors and responds to ICE enforcement activity across Atlantic and Cape May counties. This team is our frontline, ready to verify ICE sightings, document what happens, and quickly activate our defense network when community members are at risk.
Volunteers will be trained to observe safely, document accurately, and communicate through our rapid response system. In this hands-on training, we’ll walk you step-by-step through how to verify enforcement actions, report incidents, and coordinate with our legal and support teams. We’ll also cover safety, security, and how to prepare yourself for high-pressure situations.
Who: El Pueblo Unido staff will be there to support you every step of the way. Being bilingual is a plus, but not required, we can pair you with a Spanish-speaking team member if needed. No legal background is necessary, just your readiness to take action, stay grounded, and defend your community when it matters most.
Additional Trainings: This Rapid Response Team Training will be one of four volunteer opportunities offered through our Community Defense Project, a grassroots action plan to protect immigrant communities from hyper-enforcement by ICE (“la Migra”). Other teams will include the Know Your Rights Team which will lead essential educational outreach efforts; the Family Preparedness Team, which will help run our Power of Attorney Clinics; and the Accompaniment Team, which will support community members during critical appointments.
Your participation as a volunteer is essential to our resistance.
