In the past few of months Connecticut like most states have been heavily impacted by the corona virus. What many people may not be aware of due to the chaos this pandemic has caused those struggling with addiction, seeking recovery or in recovery have been greatly affected too! For many of us with substance use disorder and mental health challenges, disconnection from the recovery community and isolation could become fatal.

This Weeks chat will feature Daryl M. McGraw!

Daryl McGraw works in the areas of policy development, contract management and project coordination, as well as collaborates with grassroots peer-advocacy agencies and the CT Department of Corrections. He holds state certifications as an Addictions Counselor, Recovery Support Specialist, and a Criminal Justice Professional. Additionally, he has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. Mr. McGraw works on behalf of persons with histories of trauma that are battling addiction and assists them in overcoming the obstacles facing ex-offenders upon their release from prison. He regularly presents conferences and training in a variety of settings including university campuses, correctional facilities, behavioral health organizations and national events. He provides insight from a different cultural perspective and set of lived experiences. Mr. McGraw inspires cultural competency and challenges organizations to move away from the status quo.

Join Aleska and Carol the CT Recovery Advocacy Project Leads, for a community chat on many of these pressing topics that are affecting so many such as recovery housing, treatment, reentry, employment, harm reduction, medication assisted-recovery, recovery resources, peer/coach services, recovery friendly businesses/communities and more.

Please feel free to invite your local and state representatives, recovery residences, business owners, family and friends...all are welcome!
