Bend YIMBYs will be going to this public hearing to speak in favor of the Compass Corner project.

It is a microcosm of why we don't have have enough homes to go around and prices are so high. The neighbors have fought, for years, the notion of having apartments in "their" neighborhood. They said it didn't have enough parking - and then sank an earlier version of it because of a technicality where there was parking on the ground floor. They argue it's not "affordable" while their fight costs time and money that will be reflected in more expensive housing.

Project by project gets denied, and housing gets more expensive.

These hearings are often at inconvenient times for the working people getting priced out of town, so it's up to those of us who can show up to do so.
