COP26 Global Day of Action: join the 350 Sydney contingent
Start: Saturday, November 06, 2021•11:45 AM
Sydney people - COP26 is only weeks away.
World leaders are meeting in early November to set climate targets - and people across the globe are rallying to demand swift and ambitious action to fight off the worst effects of climate change.
While we've been in lockdown, the Morrison Government has been busy finding ways to avoid climate action while funnelling even more money into their fossil fuel mates' pockets, hoping we'll believe their lies.
But we know that maintaining as safe a climate as possible means NO new fossil fuel projects. We need to make sure we sound the alarm loud and clear, and demand an end to fossil fuels.
350 Sydney is joining together with our friends at Workers for Climate Action and the Australian Student Environment Network to rally at Hyde Park North Fountain, 11.45AM November 6. We'll come together with people from across Sydney, taking our message to the streets, adding to the global demands for an immediate end to fossil fuel funding, and a just transition to a zero carbon future.
WHEN: 11.45AM, Saturday November 6
WHERE: Meet just north of the Hyde Park fountain, 110 Elizabeth St NSW
BRING: a face mask, water, sunscreen, an eye-catching sign, 350 t-shirt if you have one, and come ready to make noise! And if you can, wear an item of red clothing to signify 'code red' for humanity.
AFTERWARDS: 350 Australia is targeting the big banks still financing oil and gas, so the 350 contingent will head to the NAB HQ office once the march is over, to take a cheeky photo to send to their executives. We hope you can join us after the march!
NOTE: this is a COVID-safe event. Please come prepared to sign in, show your proof of vaccination, and follow COVID marshal directions so we can protest in safety.
