County Council Budget Scrutiny Meeting

Start: 2025-12-07 19:30:00 UTC Greenwich Mean Time : Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London (GMT+00:00)

Event Type: Virtual
A virtual link will be communicated before the event.

Please note that this meeting is open to members who have concrete and detailed proposals for specific amendments that could be made to the County Council budget.

Cambridgeshire County Council oversees an annual budget of over £1 billion which it spends on vital services for vulnerable adults and children and education services among other things. With three Greens on the County Council, Greens now have an opportunity to scrutinise and make constructive suggestions on what the next annual budget (2026-27) could look like. This meeting will feed into that process by identifying specific and robust proposals that Greens could bring to the next budget scrutiny meeting at the County Council.

If you have a specific idea for an item that could be included in the next County Council budget that you would like to discuss with councillors (preferably an idea of where savings could be found or where more fees and charges could be raised), please register for this event and also email your proposal to research@cambridge.greenparty.org.uk ahead of the meeting.

The draft of the next budget will be available from 4th December. In the meantime, an overview of the existing County Council budget can be found here: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/council/finance-and-budget/budget-overview and more detailed information can be found in the Business Plan: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/council/finance-and-budget/business-plans/business-plan-2025-to-2026

We hope to see you there and look forward to your ideas!
