CA MENA Civil Rights Coalition

For decades, government forms told Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Californians to check "White" or "Other." In 2025, we changed that in California with AB 91, the MENA Inclusion Act. Now a federal proposal threatens that progress.

The Census Bureau has proposed removing race and ethnicity questions from the 2030 Census. The proposal would also exclude many residents from the count used to apportion Congress. Without census data, the new MENA category would never be counted, and AB 91 would lose the baseline it needs to make a difference.

Join the CA MENA Civil Rights Coalition and guest speaker Dr. Nadia Abuelezam to learn:

- Why AB 91 matters for MENA representation and political power
- What the 2030 Census proposal means for our communities
- How to submit your own comment in five minutes, live during the webinar
- How our coalition comment and your voice work together to save the Census
