Cuba May Day Brigade Reportback
Start: Saturday, July 26, 2025•01:00 PM
End: Saturday, July 26, 2025•03:00 PM
Join us for a reportback from the 2025 May Day Brigade in Cuba on Saturday, July 26, from 1-3 PM at the DSA SF office! July 26 is a national holiday in Cuba, marking the day the Cuban Revolution began on July 26, 1953, and the start of the overthrow of the US-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista by Fidel Castro and his revolutionary group. It was then that the 26th of July Movement was born. It became the political party and revolutionary movement that the Cuban people still resonate with today as a reminder of their liberation.
You’ll hear about the firsthand experience of the socialist program in Cuba, its medical and educational systems, the May Day events that occurred in Havana, the challenges the Cuban people are currently facing, and their revolutionary optimism that we should adopt in the face of our organizing in the belly of the beast.
The reportback will kick off with some classic Cuban tunes, and there will be snacks and refreshments.
