Dallas News Guild Celebration
Start: Monday, August 10, 2020•05:00 PM
The Dallas News Guild is filing for an election Monday morning and celebrating this next step in our effort to preserve journalism in North Texas. We are turning in our authorization cards to the National Labor Relations Board, triggering the federal election process. We are also turning in 422 letters that our community wrote to Publisher Grant Moise and CEO Robert Decherd. We're asking our colleagues, our alumni and our community to join us for a celebration at Main Street Garden Park as we turn in these letters in person and count our votes. We'll be socially distancing outside while we listen to our colleagues who will be giving speeches about why it's so important to fight for our journalists. Bring a mask and socially distance!
We already have a strong majority who have signed cards (about 100!) asking for a union, and at any time, The Dallas Morning News can count our cards and confirm we've already voted for a union. If the DMN continues its union-busting campaign, we'll confirm our win when the National Labor Relations Board holds a mail election over the next two months.
