On August 11, 2025, Donald Trump signed an executive order proclaiming a crime emergency in DC. Since that day, our city has experienced a flood of federal agencies into our communities. Since that day, we frequently see the National Guard in our most public spaces. Since that day, our friends, family, and communities have targeted and discriminated against.

As a result, over a thousand of our immigrant neighbors were kidnapped by ICE in an unending terror visiting Black and brown communities.

Terror continues to this day, with no end in sight.

Metro DC DSA is hosting a community forum covering a timeline of events, what occupation looks like today, and first hand experiences from organizers on the ground actively working against this. We’ll then hold breakout discussions on how the work we’re doing can be used to build a campaign of resistance.

This forum will feature panelists from local advocacy groups including:

• Families Not Feds Coalition
• Metro DC DSA Community Defense Working Group
• Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network
• Movimiento Migrante DC

Areas of focus include: Abolition, Community Defense, Internationalism, Electoral Organizing, Labor Organizing, and Tenant Organizing.
