Trump is on a trajectory toward authoritarian rule while rapidly bringing us to the brink of climate disaster. Utility bills are unaffordable. Good clean energy jobs are disappearing. Elders and children are forced to stay inside because of air pollution.
Yet instead of taking action to address the crisis, New York Governor Kathy Hochul is taking us backwards.
That’s why thousands of us will march in Albany on Saturday, April 18th. It’s Deadline Hochul.
Instead of trying to ram Trump’s fracked gas pipelines through the state’s permitting process, Hochul should lower our energy bills through the rapid buildout of solar and wind energy and making our homes more energy efficient.
Instead of destroying the programs that help install solar on our homes and failing to build utility-scale solar, wind and battery projects like other states have, Hochul should create good jobs building public renewables, transmission projects and residential solar.
Instead of halting the state’s cap and invest program just before it was set to start, Hochul should deliver billions of dollars of state investments yearly in our future.
Hochul must set specific, enforceable anti-pollution requirements to break free from the shackles of expensive, polluting oil and gas.
Hochul must deliver the billions of dollars of state investment yearly needed to make clean energy affordable for all - and create tens of thousands of good jobs in the process.
In the coming months, we will update this page with event information, including the time and march route and other logistics.
Together, thousands of us will send a message to Hochul that cannot be ignored.
