Democracy in Motion - Volunteers Ramping Up for 2026!

Start: Tuesday, March 24, 202606:30 PM

Location: Oydis 190/192 High St, Ashburton, 3147 AU

2026 is going to be a big year — and we’re starting by doing something simple and powerful: bringing people together.

With more than two years until the next Federal Election, this is the time to build momentum. That means strengthening relationships, growing our supporter base, and creating spaces where our community can connect, think big, and have a genuinely good time.

This year we’ll be hosting regular themed evenings at venues across the electorate. Each night will explore a different issue shaping our democracy. Expect:

  • An optional shared meal to kick things off

  • Guest speakers and fresh perspectives

  • Good-natured debate

  • Interactive activities

  • Fun, games, competitions and prizes

These won’t be dry political forums. They’ll be energetic, thoughtful, and community-driven evenings designed to spark ideas and build connections.

Our first event theme:
Does the media help or hinder democracy?

We’ll unpack Australia’s media landscape, who holds influence, and what it means for trust, accountability and informed public debate.

To make this happen — and to grow our presence across Chisholm — we need volunteers. People who can help organise, host, promote, welcome guests, set up, pack down, or simply bring energy and ideas.

If you’d like to be part of building something meaningful in our community, join us on 23 March for our Volunteers Night and find out how you can get involved in Democracy in Motion.

RSVP on this page, at the right.

Let’s make this a year of connection, momentum and action.
