Join us this mother’s day (for peace) for a panel discussion on legislative battles and public sector organizing that build collective power for workers here in Colorado and beyond.
We're very excited to welcome Jose La Luz, a long time labor organizer and founding member of DSA. Jose organized with migrant Puerto Rican farm workers in CT and MA in his early years and later was the architect of the grassroots campaign that resulted in the
1998 passage of Puerto Rico's Law 45, which granted bargaining rights to over 120,000 public sector workers.
Former Colorado Rep and local community organizer Tim Hernández will speak on the landmark Agricultural Workers' Rights Bill that was passed here in Colorado in 2021 and the subsequent reactionary attempts to roll back these hard-fought protections.
Dailyn is an organizer for educators and classified staff who worked on the external campaign in Fairfax county that helped 27,000 workers in this school district win recognition. After moving to Colorado, she’s worked on various other recognition campaigns in Summit, a bargaining campaign in Cherry creek, and now works across the southern valley rural district areas of the state.
The panel will be facilitated by writer and fellow DDSA comrade Joe Mayall, host of the excellent JoeWrote Podcast.
Light food and NA beverages will be provided.
