Dine-Around with Houston Women
Start: 2017-11-04 18:30:00 UTC Central Time (US & Canada) (GMT-06:00)
This is a virtual event
Houston has one of the hottest food scenes in America, and women have always led the way. Whether "Mama Ninfa" (pictured above, courtesy of the Houston Chronicle) who cultivated Houston's original "Tex-Mex" taste buds, to the female chefs and restauranteurs today who bring us Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, and even (gasp!) Californian cuisine.
RSVP on this page for our "Dine-Around Town" with some of Houston's most interesting female chefs, and we'll respond with a list of restaurants catering to the Sisters of 77 and their companions this Saturday night. Good food, good fun, and a good cause - let's celebrate women who are changing the food landscape in Houston!
Below is the emailed list sent to all who RSVP'd:
"Are you hungry, tonight?" was one of our daughter's favorite books as a child - a collection of recipes reportedly loved by Elvis Presley.
If you're hungry, tonight, you could reach for Elvis' banana-peanut butter sandwich, OR... gather some friends and head out to sample the kitchens of some of Houston's female restauranteurs. The following list represents recommendations from volunteers, and includes women chefs, owners, mixologists, and sommeliers. Is your favorite female-powered kitchen not on the list? Please write back and we'll add your favorites to our list and post it on our website.
**Important: go online or call each restaurant to make sure they have room for your party tonight. Also important: this list is not comprehensive, it just represents some favorites from volunteers who wrote in. We'd love your contributions and feedback!
Enjoy!
And join us for the rest of this weekend's 40th anniversary commemoration of the 1977 National Women's Conference.
Ciao! (Or, chow...?)
