Discover Oglet - A guided walks

Save Oglet Shore and GreenBelt campaign opposing the expansion of Liverpool airport is organising a walk for you to discover Oglet Shore.

Oglet is one of the few remaining natural  space in Liverpool and a beloved green spaces many people use. Oglet is a much-loved Green Lung for the area heavily used during the pandemic for exercise & recreation. The airport expansion will reduce public access to this land.

The fields, ponds, hedgerows & wooded cloughs supports a healthy population of wintering, passage and breeding birds including the yellow wagtail, as well as populations of bats, amphibians, insects and plants, some of which are classed as Endangered. It has been designated by Merseyside Biobank as a Local Wildlife Site.

Join us on a walk to discover Oglet. There will be two walks starting at the same time:

  • Walk 1 - One directly to the Oglet Shore. This is a shorter walk designed for people who are cannot walk for long period and do strenuous walks or for those with young children. It will last about an hour and will be led by Greg Quiery.
  • Walk 2 - One along the Mersey Way as far as the light gantry and then along the shore. It will last about two hour and will be led by Jane Hammet.

When registering, you will be asked to pick a walk so we can plan for numbers. Please also tell us how many people will join you.

To access the meeting point, you can use Bus 82A to Hale and stop at the Eastern Avenue/Hale drive. It is also possible to park a car locally.
