Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) is hosting a Divestment, Reinvestment, and Ethical Finance Training session for UCU members. This is your opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge needed to campaign effectively and influence how your university manages its investments.

University investments currently fuel an economic system that drives inequality, conflict, colonialism, and environmental destruction. UCU branches must play a critical role in challenging this. Standing in solidarity with the Global South and collaborating with student-led campaigns across the country is essential to pushing for more ethical financial practices.

In a sector already under immense strain, it can feel like there’s little room to campaign beyond immediate workers’ rights. But by deepening your understanding of university finances and governance, you’ll be better equipped to demand responsible investment policies - benefitting not just this campaign, but your wider union work too.

The Invest for Change campaign is working with students and student union officers across the UK. By attending this training, we’ll connect you with students leading the charge on your campus. Together, we’ll build a stronger, united campaign, forging vital links between UCU branches and student unions.

You won’t be doing this alone. There will be support on hand for your branch, taking on time-consuming admin and maintaining ongoing communication with student groups to keep the momentum going.
