DON'T VAPORIZE BROOKLYN! - Community Fest + Rally
Start: Sunday, October 24, 2021•03:00 PM

Join the NoNBKPipeline coalition and our allies for a big, family-friendly event at Cooper Park! We’ll be at the corner of Maspeth Ave & Morgan Ave in the park!
There will be candy, storytelling, art and lantern making, a drum line, and even a sponge toss at "Dr. FRACKenstein." We'll end with a lantern-lit procession, and a speak out from frontline community members. Bring your young people, your activist friends, and your neighbors!
We're going to make our demands heard - no LNG vaporizers at National Grid's facility in Greenpoint.
Rather than waste our time and have National Grid brush off our questions in another faux public hearing, we’re going to gather in the community to protest, educate, and celebrate. We plan to hold a teach-in followed by festival-style games and storytelling, and then have a lantern-lit procession to the National Grid facility at dusk.
Before the DEC votes to decide if National Grid can build (and raise our bills for) two new vaporizers - which would re-heat Liquified Natural Gas back into gas form, and allow for more output - at their Greenpoint facility, we're going to make our opposition heard. National Grid’s facility in Greenpoint is furthering a legacy of environmental racism by polluting communities like Cooper Park Houses and those living on the Newtown Creek superfund site.
Now, National Grid wants to continue these harms by building new fracked gas infrastructure, and making New Yorkers pay for it. We oppose this fracked gas expansion, we oppose paying for it, and we oppose the environmental harms it would bring to local BIPOC communities and our global climate.
If you can't make the event, you can still support the fight - sign the petition to stop Nat Grid's vaporizers!
