Letters and Libations

The Douglas County Colorado Activism Task Force is participating in #ProjectMailStorm — an initiative to flood the White House, Congress, DOGE, and DHS (the department in charge of ICE) with weekly letters until they pay attention.

On Saturday, May 3rd we’re gathering to write letters and make friends.

Come and go as you please between 1:30 and 3:30 PM.

We’ll bring: Paper, pens, envelopes, light snacks, nonalcoholic drinks, and pre-written letters for you to use if it's helpful.

You bring: Yourself, your friends, stamps, and any art supplies you want.

The room we are holding this event in has a max capacity of 100 people. With this being a "come and go as you please" format, we do not anticipate that being an issue. If it looks like we might be expecting a larger crowd, we will email registrants about possibly staggering times of arrival.

FAQ:

Why not a protest?
It's not one or the other! We think a variety of peaceful tactics all working together is the best way forward. Writing letters is one of many ways to get our point across. We will host and support many more protests to come, and we continue to share information when we have it about nearby protests to join.

Will writing a letter really do anything?
Don’t just think of this as one letter. Think of it as one drop in a rainstorm. Our goal is to storm them with mail as a physical reminder of our discontent for as long as it takes to restore our democracy.

Wait…you said something about sending letters once a week. Is this a recurring event?
The intent behind Project Mail Storm is to send letters every week as an ongoing reminder that the government needs to do better. While we’re open to doing this again if people like it, the plan is not to make this a regularly recurring event. We encourage you to keep writing letters on your own as you are able to, and we will do the same!

See you there!
