DSA 101: 101 is an event for new members and non members where Lincoln DSA introduces people to socialism and DSA! We will gather at Bennet Martin Public Library's 4th Floor Auditorium located @ 136 S. 14th Street in downtown Lincoln at 1pm to set up and have a brief meet and greet with light refreshments and snacks as we get settled and mingle a bit. The Zoom will start around 1:15 to let people get on but the official meeting will begin at 1:30 PM.
You will get a chance to hear from Chapter Leaders and active members about our inspiring vision and local work we have been doing and would like to implement going forward. You'll hear some inspiring visions for mass politics, member democracy, and class struggle campaigns you can get involved in. There will be some light refreshments to tide us over at the beginning while we mingle and get situated. More importantly this is a time to hear from you all as well!
We will cover topics like "What is Socialism" and how DSA is a "Big Tent" for socialists, and the core beliefs that hold us together. We will do a brief poly-ed section and how we intend to bring about Socialism and what it means to be an Organizer and why we want to Organize the Working Class. We'll cover some recent huge victories and the efforts those took to achieve. We'll go over how our membership dues fund the work we do and how you get a say in how that is decided. We'll explain our structure and give some information for you all to take home and read over at your own pace and time, but mainly get you connected to our work and set up meetings to get you connected where you want to be in that structure and work.
Bring something to take notes if you like and prepared to go home with some swag and excitement about the work you will begin to do helping the community and Building A Better World!
