This is a virtual event

ICE agents have been escalating their presence in our communities, and that means that we need to get together with our neighbors and come up with plans to make sure we are protecting ourselves and our communities from their harassment.

People all over the country are trying different things. Many communities are coming up with ways to observe ICE and to inform neighbors of their rights, all things that every person has a right to do under the constitution.

“ICE Watch” groups are popping up everywhere, and that can mean a group of neighbors coming together to make a plan to observe and record ICE’s interactions with community members, or tactics like “Adopting a Day Labor Corner”. The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) is a group that aims to improve the lives of day laborers, migrants, and low-wage workers around the country. They are training people from all over the country to adopt a corner, which means committing as a neighbor, ally, or community member, to accompany, observe, and actively support a place where day laborers gather and look for work. A lot of times this can be a corner in front of a Home Depot, Lowe’s, or other hardware stores.

Join DSA’s International Migrant Rights Working Group and NDLON on October 28th at 7pm CST to hear from NDLON organizers about the Adopt a Corner program, and from DSA organizers who are actively running ICEWatch and Adopt a Corner programs in their local chapters.
