The AFL-CIO is delighted to host a discussion with photojournalist Earl Dotter and Peg Seminario on Dotter’s newest book, Life’s Work: A 50 Year Photographic Chronicle of Working in the U.S.A. along with a photo exhibition of selected work.

Earl Dotter is an award-winning photojournalist who has been documenting the lives of American workers for over fifty years. His focus is on the occupational and environmental concerns raised by some of the more dangerous and unhealthy conditions experienced by workers from the Appalachian coalfields to those handling asbestos.

LIFE'S WORK: A Fifty Year Photographic Chronicle of Working in the U.S.A. demonstrates the breadth of Earl Dotter's work in occupational photography and how important his documentation is for improving working conditions across the United States. The 250 page retrospective book, just published by AIHA Press, will be available for purchase.

The exhibition will be on view in the center lobby of the AFL-CIO from September 13th through November 29th and is free and open to the public.
