EFSB Public Hearing for SouthCoast Wind
Start: Wednesday, July 23, 2025•06:00 PM

Tell Rhode Island Regulators: Yes to SouthCoast Wind!
Your voice is important! The Rhode Island Energy Facility Siting Board (EFSB) is holding a public comment hearing on the SouthCoast Wind project in Portsmouth on July 23. RSVP to join Climate Action Rhode Island and Climate Jobs RI in showing public support for this project!
What is this hearing: The SouthCoast Wind project is expected to deliver 1,200 megawatts of clean energy to the New England power grid within the next five years, powering more than 800,000 homes – but first, SouthCoast Wind needs approval from the RI EFSB to install submarine transmission cables which bring the energy from the project ashore. These buried cables would run beneath the Sakonnet River and a two-mile onshore crossing in Portsmouth, RI, before tying into the regional electric grid in Somerset, MA.
This project is crucial to meeting Rhode Island’s clean energy goals, strengthening our grid, and delivering good jobs and economic growth to Portsmouth and our state. It is absolutely crucial that the EFSB hear from Rhode Islanders like you, making it clear that we say Yes to SouthCoast Wind!
