Emergency Caravan to Folkston ICE Detention Center

Start: Sunday, October 18, 2026•09:00 AM

Location: Street Parking near Perry Chamber of Commerce• 900 Carroll St, Perry, GA 31069 US

A hunger strike is underway at the Folkston ICE Processing Center involving hundreds of imprisoned people, many of whom have been convicted of no crime and have been held for months, protesting medical neglect, insufficient and contaminated food, and unhygienic living conditions. Detainees have managed to release videos describing and capturing such conditions, to include the presence of rotting animal corpses that have been left in the facility for weeks, filling the air with an inescapable stench of death.

This GEO Group for-profit detention center not only subjects people captured by ICE to daily abuse, but has placed at least 30 strikers in solitary confinement while swiftly deporting others; all in an attempt to halt organized efforts to draw attention to the urgent and dangerous conditions the detainees are enduring. These people being held in the Folkston ICE Processing Center are putting their health and lives on the line to call for help from us who still have our freedom; we're answering their call, in person!

The Middle Georgia DSA calls on every willing and able Middle Georgia resident of good conscience to join us Sunday morning to form a caravan to the Folkston ICE Processing Center to rally, to be heard beyond the barbed wire and concrete walls, to inspire hope in those fighting for their lives and to raise awareness of their critical condition. The strikers demand an end to abusive treatment, the right to due process, and immediate release. We support these demands and further call for a TOTAL SHUTDOWN of Folkston ICE Processing Center and for ICE to be ABOLISHED!

The caravan will depart the area of the Perry Chamber of Commerce at 9:15AM for a 1:00PM rally start time at the detention center. The most current information concerning this rally will be disseminated to all in attendance before departure. Consider bringing signs, noisemakers, snacks, water, and using temporary acrylic paint to write messages of solidarity on your car.
