Join us on Thursday, September 23, at 7pm EST to learn about what’s happening in Afghanistan and ending the Global War on Terror!

The Internationalism Working Group of Boston DSA will host a discussion on current developments in Afghanistan and the campaign to repeal the legal basis for the United States’ Global War on Terror – the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMF) - on September 23 at 7pm EST. The event builds upon DSA International Committee’s initial organizing call on Afghanistan on August 21.

IWG is honored to welcome the following speakers: former Kabul-based journalist and current gender studies researcher Zahra Nader (@ZahraYusufi ), Kabul-based author of “No Good Men Among the Living” Anand Gopal (@Anand_Gopal_), and Sepehr Makaremi, DSA member and Campaign Manager of the No War Campaign.

Zahra and Anand will outline the events leading up to the U.S. withdrawal and Taliban takeover, the impact of the U.S.-led occupation on ordinary Afghans, and developments in Afghanistan since the change in power (i.e. regarding women’s rights). Sepehr will present the DSA-supported campaign to repeal the 2001 and 2002 AUMFs, the laws which continue to serve as the legal foundation for the United States’ Global War on Terror. You can get involved in the campaign by signing up here.
