NVDA Training

Greg Schwedock, Hamilton Class of 2010, will lead an Extinction Rebellion (XR) Non-Violent Direct Action training reviewing the history and theory behind the young movement and Direct Action. Participants will come out prepared for upcoming  direct actions in NYC 10/7 or 10/10, but skills will be generally transferable for actions with most groups outside of XR.

We'll also review why we're heading for extinction and what we can do about it ...hint it's NVDA.  Training exercises will get participants moving around practicing real action situations.

There are no age or physical requirements. All are welcome!

About the trainer:
Gregory Schwedock (@GregSchwedock Hamilton Class of 2010, Physics Major CS Minor) has been in the climate *emergency* movement since 2014 when he took on a leadership position with The Climate Mobilization (TCM) managing critical roles in tech and organizing. He helped create and guide the Hoboken and Montgomery County Maryland TCM chapters which in 2017 respectively passed the first city and county climate emergency declarations in the US.

When Extinction Rebellion reached out to spread beyond the UK, he set up international and US infrastructure for XR. Later, he convened the XR NYC chapter that in just half a year experienced rapid grassroots growth and visibility including over 300 direct action arrests, accounting for over a third of XR’s arrests outside the UK, and the passage of an NYC declaration of climate emergency. He spearheaded the climbing actions the local group has become known for.

He previously created the digital campaigns Meatlessly.org and CuomoWalkTheTalk.org
