The merger would remove community control over WakeMed from the Wake County Commission to Atrium executives in Charlotte, consolidate health care at the expense of patients, and weaken labor power. As socialists committed to universal, democratically accountable health care and strong labor rights, we have a responsibility to stand with health care workers, patients, and community members demanding transparency, accountability, and a health system organized around public need rather than institutional expansion and market power.

The meeting will begin with an update on where the merger stands. We will then discuss what we can do to oppose the merger.
