The government is shutting down because our strongman president can't muster the votes in Congress to pass his budget. But this is much more than a fight between branches of government or political parties. This government shutdown is a showdown between the public and the billionaires.

We must be very clear: The Trump administration has been shutting down the government piece by piece all year long. And any budget passed on their terms will only further the permanent shutdown of nearly all government services that actually address working peoples' needs in this country.
