FIGHT THE HIKE! (STOP CMP FROM RAISING OUR RATES) Public Witness Hearing in Hallowell

Start: Wednesday, October 15, 202506:00 PM

CMP wants to raise our rates by another $420 a year. Maine people and small businesses can't take it. Join us, the Fight the Hike Coalition, to demand that the PUC require CMP to make better investments, to make them affordabley, and to show real results!

Together, we have influenced PUC decisions before. Together, we can do it again!

Things you might talk about as a witness, providing evidence to the PUC:

  1. Are you or is someone you know struggling already to pay their CMP bill? What is that like?

  2. How will you or they be impacted by an average increase of $420 per year?

  3. What is your experience of CMP’s service quality? Do they deserve a rate hike?

  1. Should all the money for the grid come from Maine people, or should more of it come from their profits?

  1. CMP’s own filings in this case say they will invest a little over $400 million, and want an increase in rates that will require customers to pay them $1.4 billion in the first five years alone. Should the PUC consider reducing the profits CMP is requesting, and require CMP to invest with a lower profit expectation?

If unable to attend, it is still very helpful to comment in either hearing virtually (not under oath), post written comments, attend the October 14 rally, share information on social media, tell your friends, and send a letter to the editor!
