Join us for the HJC general meeting to get ready for the May Day 2028 strike and to bring ETOC to your chapter! Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties have affordability covenants that expire after a period of time has passed (often 30 years) when the rent becomes market-rate. This creates a cliff where landlords can suddenly raise capped rents to market rate leading many tenants to lose their homes. As the affordability covenants start to expire, tenants will face displacement and we should start organizing against it right now. We can identify buildings with expiring covenants between now and 2028 to organize and create points of resistance ahead of the strike. These buildings can become meeting places for mass participation during the May Day strikes!

The Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee training is the most important project of the HJC and now you can bring it to your chapter! We're going to hear from DSA members who have implemented ETOC and other tenant organizing projects in their chapters. You'll hear how they brought the idea to their chapter, how it helped to develop DSA member's organizing skills, and how it built relationships with their local tenant unions.
