Forum 2029 – 'Our next government? Making sense of the new right'

Start: Wednesday, June 03, 202606:30 PM

Location: Oxford House Derbyshire Street, London, E2 6HG GB

Speakers: Li Andersson MEP (Left Alliance, Finland) | Alan Finlayson (UEA) | Anki Deo (HOPE not hate)

Is a Reform government inevitable?

The new right in Britain is no longer a fringe force. Reform UK's rapid rise has reshaped the political landscape ahead of the 2029 General Election. Understanding what drives this movement, how it operates, and what it wants from the next election is no longer optional for anyone serious about progressive politics.

This opening Forum 2029 event will focus on the contemporary British new right: its ideological roots, its electoral strategy, and the social conditions it is exploiting. Who is voting for Reform – and further right – and why? How is the new right likely to campaign in 2029, and what vulnerabilities will it target? How does it relate to street movements on its rightward flank? And what does a credible progressive response actually look like?

Speakers:

  • Li Andersson MEP – Left Alliance, Finland
  • Alan Finlayson – Professor of Political & Social Theory, University of East Anglia
  • Anki Deo – HOPE not hate
