Join leading climate groups from Buffalo to Long Island as we converge on Albany to demand that Governor Hochul and the legislature pass key climate legislation THIS YEAR to kick fossil fuels out of buildings.

Burning gas, oil, and propane in our homes and workplaces is bad for New Yorker’s wallets, harms our health, and is destroying the climate. We have solutions! We can transition to renewable heating and cooking and save New Yorkers money by winning funding for home retrofits and electrification and by enacting three important bills:

• All-Electric Building Act (S6843C|A8431B of 2022)

• Gas Transition and Affordable Energy Act (S8198|A9329 of 2022)

• Energy Efficiency, Equity, and Jobs Act (S3126C|A3996C of 2022)

We will kick off the day with a rally and press conference and Electric Slide dance party in the State Capitol to push Governor Hochul to include these vital bills in her proposed budget. Then we will break into lobby teams (no prior lobbying experience necessary) to talk to our elected representatives and win their support for these important bills and funding.

Event Schedule:

For those traveling to Albany on 1/24:

• 11 - 11:30am: Buses and people traveling from afar arrive and register at our table on the Third Floor Terrace, Legislative Office Bldg, State Street. Pick up Boxed Vegetarian & Vegan boxed lunch, Legislative Packets, Team Schedules, and Talking Points
• Noon: Rally & Press Conference at the "Million Dollar Staircase" (Great Western Staircase on the State Capitol map) on the 3rd floor of the State Capitol; concludes with “Electric Boogie” (aka Electric Slide)
• 1pm - 3:30pm: Meetings with legislators or senior staff
• 4pm: Departures

A smaller group (those who live locally or who arrive the night before):

• 9:00am: Capital Region and early arrivals do in-person lobbying
• 9am -11:30am: Lobby Day Registration at Third Floor Terrace, Legislative Office Bldg, State Street. Pick up materials: Legislative Packets, Team Schedules, and Talking Points, and signs for the rally (provided by NYCP). Coffee/donuts available early; box lunches available to pick up before the Rally and Press Conference.

COVID protocol: Please make sure you are healthy on the 24th, and stay home if you are not feeling well. We’re requiring honor system at-home COVID testing before the event and masks at the event. Masks are required on all buses, and many of our legislators have a mask requirement for visitors. Let’s mask to keep each other healthy; we have a lot of work ahead of us!
