Every student in Massachusetts deserves the highest quality public schools and colleges.

Since 2001, Massachusetts has cut state scholarship funding for students at public universities by 32%, which has translated into increased tuition and fees for our students at BSU and more student debt. This amounts to $3000 per student per year that the state is no longer funding, and students have had to pay instead. It is no surprise that student loans increased as a result by 77% in the past 13 years.  The CHERISH Act would reaffirm the state’s commitment to public higher education by implementing the core finding of the 2014 Higher Education Finance Commission, resulting in more than $500 million in additional funding for public higher education.

The 2015 Foundation Budget Review Commission found that the Commonwealth’s public school funding formula is outdated — and that the foundation budget is too low by more than $1 billion. The Education PROMISE Act would, over a period of time, implement the four core recommendations of the commission to increase the foundation budget, resulting in more than $1 billion in new state funding.

We're bringing together students, educators, legislators and community members to educate and take action--It's time to fully fund public education from PreK through Higher Ed, it's time to Fund Our Future.
