It's happening, the General Election is finally here. Taking place on Thursday 4th July, it gives us only a couple of weeks more to spread our Green message across South Shields with our candidate, Councillor David Francis.

David Francis is standing to become your MP. He was the first ever Green Party councillor in South Tyneside. He now leads a group of 11 Green Party councillors with a proven track record of standing up for our area and getting things done.

The Greens are the fastest growing political party in South Tyneside. In South Shields at the local elections this year, the Green Party got more votes than any other party or group.

There’s no chance of the Conservatives winning in South Shields and many are disappointed with Labour’s broken promises and lack of vision. We have a chance to choose real hope and real change instead.

What will we be doing?

We'll only be knocking on voters' doors in wards with Green councillors as part of our campaign to get David Francis elected as a Green MP for South Shields. This is targeted at trying to get those in areas who usually support us in the local elections to also support us in the general election.

We may also have leaflets available to deliver if you do not wish to door-knock.

Training
Don't worry if you're new to door knocking! We'll make sure you're paired with someone who's door knocked before so you can learn from them. We will only be door knocking in 'Green wards' during this action day so conversations are likely to be positive and friendly.

Timings
Please try to arrive on time for either the morning session at 10.45am or the afternoon session at 1:30pm. If you can't make it at those times but would still like to join us, that's ok! Please call David on 07870 143951 and we can update you with our location

Lunch

We will be having lunch from 12:30-13:20. We will be heading to the cafe in The Customs House, Mill Dam (riverside) - there is outside seating too so if you don't want to purchase food, please do feel free to bring a packed lunch (weather permitting!).
