Get Trained, Save a Life: Narcan Training @ Misfit Moon

Start: Saturday, May 10, 202507:00 PM

Join us at Misfit Kava Bar for a free, hands-on Harm Reduction + Opioid Overdose Prevention Training, presented by the NYC-DSA Racial Justice Working Group and facilitated with support from the NYC-DSA Community Solidarity Committee.

This training will give you the tools to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose using Narcan (naloxone), understand safer drug use strategies, and build confidence in showing up for your community—without fear, without judgment, and without relying on systems that often do more harm than good.

But this isn’t just about administering Narcan. We’ll talk about what overdose really means, how criminalization fuels the crisis, and why harm reduction is a movement rooted in solidarity, not charity. We’ll explore how overdose prevention connects to broader struggles and the fight for a world that prioritizes care.

Because no one should die of an overdose in 2025. Because legal doesn’t mean safe. Because we keep us safe.

This is for you if you:

  • Want to be ready to help in an emergency

  • Believe that people deserve care, not punishment

  • Want to connect with others building collective power and safety

What to expect:

  • Certified Narcan Training + Free Kits

  • Discussion grounded in public health and lived experience

  • Discussion on harm reduction, drug policy, and structural violence

Open to all – no judgment, no prerequisites, just people who care.
