Hello All! We decided to meet at the Arboretum at 10 am. The road conditions and forecasted rain make for icky conditions at Gold Creek Pond tomorrow. Conversely, the weather in Seattle looks fine and fair! So we will meet at the Arboretum and plan for a nice loop there with snacks and hot chocolate afterward.

The winter hike is at Gold Creek Pond on March 23rd. This is a special annual tradition of Climate.
Action Families, we hope you can join us!
Please RSVP so we have a head count for snowshoes. Space is limited.
Register early, but no later than Wednesday, March 19th.

Dress for the weather – mountain conditions can change quickly. Be prepared for variable
conditions such as rain, snow, wind, sunshine, etc. You may also want to bring and leave extra
clothes in the car if you need to change them on the drive back home. The best thing is to dress in layers, and each person to carry a backpack. Moisture-wicking material is better than cotton. Wear appropriate footwear for snowy conditions. NOTE: We will have snowshoes for the group if conditions require this. The regular winter boots you hike in are expected to fit into the snowshoes.
Bring essentials - water, a lunch, a winter rain/snow jacket, a warm beanie, gloves (extra gloves are a good idea if yours get drenched), sunglasses (winter sun on white snow is bright), sunscreen, trekking poles (optional), fully charged cell phone (at least one person in your group). Optional first aid kit (an Adult Lead in our group will have one, too).
Trail - just east of Snoqualmie Pass, the Gold Creek Pond winter hike is a 2.5-mile round trip, 50
foot elevation gain, easy / kid-friendly (suitable for all skill levels) trail. For WTA details, click here.

- From the Seattle area, drive Interstate 90 east to Exit 54, 2 miles east of the Snoqualmie Pass summit.
- Get off I-90 at Exit 54, and then at the end of the off-ramp, turn north (left), crossing under the freeway.
- A few hundred feet after crossing under the highway, turn right at Gold Creek Sno--Park (where you should see the sign Gold Creek Pond & Gold Creek Trail) onto Forest Road 4832 (also called Lake Mardee Road). Continue on this road, which runs east and parallel to the freeway, for about ¾ to 1 mile.
- Park along Forest Road 4832 (Sno-Park permit required), where we will have a group of parking spots set aside for our group, and you will see a Climate Action Families Sign. We will gather at this sign and begin the hike together.
Parking - before the event, please purchase your one-day Sno-Park permit online ($25 per vehicle). If CAF can reimburse you, please email your receipt here. You can obtain a Sno-Park permit.
