La Crosse Region Debate Watch Party

Start: Tuesday, July 30, 2019 7:00 PM

Climate change is an EMERGENCY* that impacts every aspect of our lives! It's about time that the Democratic National Committee act like it with serious presidential candidate DEBATES on climate action plans that will best protect the public and the ecosystems upon which we and all species depend!

Tri-state area residents in the beautiful La Crosse region (which is also threatened) are therefore asked to join us climate action advocates on Tuesday evening in La Crosse, WI from 7 - 10 p.m. to watch the first night of the DNC presidential debate in Detroit on CNN together. We get to have the entire lounge downstairs with TV & WiFi at Piggy's Restaurant near the Mississippi Bridge; beverages, desserts and soup, appetizers, etc. -- incl. vegetarian -- can be ordered throughout the event (several are in a $3-8 price range). With fellow watch parties across the country Tuesday night, we'll help amplify the need for a #ClimateDebate on social media while we watch the debate to see what the candidates say with regard to the Climate Crisis as well as many other national issues that it will only greatly exacerbate.

Sunrise Movement youth from the Midwest with adult supporters will also have a 4:30 rally in Detroit and a 5:30 p.m. march to the DNC debate venue and post social media updates for us to share and re-tweet throughout the day and evening on their social media accounts incl. on Twitter which politicians often see the most. You can do that from home as well.

Please also follow Coulee Region Sierra Club's blog for local climate-related information and important events!

Thank you,

Janette & Cathy

* We are already at an average global surface temperature of 15 degrees Celsius when approx. 14 degrees Celsius has been much more ideal for life and civilization. We must keep our total increase to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (vs. the 2, 3, 4, or even 5 degrees we are heading toward with far too many carbon emissions still emitted by several top-emitting countries incl. the U.S. and their corporations who operate all over the world).
