This Wednesday, May 21st at 12:30pm CT, seniors, doctors, and community members with Social Security Works and Progress Iowa will hold a Hands Off Medicaid rally outside the MercyOne Newton Medical Center.

Speakers will oppose the House Republican bill to slash over $700 billion from Medicaid. These cuts could force nursing homes and hospitals around the country, including the MercyOne Newton Medical Center, to close due to loss of funding.

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), who represents Newton, won her seat by only 800 votes. If the Republican plan to slash Medicaid becomes law, 66,000 of her constituents will lose health care.
