The Alexandria West Small Area Plan will go back before Planning Commission on Thursday, November 7th at their 7PM meeting at City Hall, and we need your help! This plan is a big deal, since it will set the city's plans for housing, land use and transportation in Alexandria West for the next 15-20 years. The plan is a step in the right direction, but it still needs changes to legalize the truly abundant housing that we need. Here's how you can help:

1. Give a live comment in-person or on Zoom, or submit a written comment before the hearing. Check out our comment guide for everything you need to know to give a comment, and let us know if you have any questions. Every comment makes a difference whether written or live, and we need as many as we can get.

2. Whether you're giving a live or written comment, join us for a happy hour at the bar area of Kismet Modern Indian before the meeting! Feel free to join us any time starting at 5:30, and those of us going to the Planning Commission meeting will head over to City Hall at 7. We can also celebrate (hopefully) our YIMBYs of Nova-endorsed candidates being elected to City Council!

3. Extra credit: While the Alexandria West plan is by far our priority on Thursday, the Planning Commission will also be voting on a proposed development of 7 townhouses in Alexandria West, which has attracted some vocal opposition from neighbors. If you have the capacity to submit a brief written comment in support of this development (item 9 on the docket) to PlanComm@alexandriava.gov, we'd really appreciate it!
