In response to the continued attack on food access and SNAP benefits, we're bringing together mutual aid organizers, neighbors, parents, workers, and anyone affected by rising food insecurity for a community conversation.

This moment presents us with a crisis. Every crisis also presents with an opportunity. When local and federal systems fail us or directly attack our basic needs, we can turn toward one another. Mutual aid helps us show the state—and remind ourselves—that we already have the power, knowledge, and relationships we need to care for our communities.

Join us for a conversation on the role of mutual aid as both a survival tactic and an organizing strategy. We'll hold a panel led by local mutual aid organizers, followed by an open discussion about how we can strengthen and expand our mutual aid networks across Hartford.

We’ll also practice mutual aid in real time. Bring food to contribute to a community food drive, and participate in a shared potluck meal as part of the event.
