"I want to let people know about the realities of hibakunisei (second generation A-bomb survivors). It is not well known. It has been downplayed. I want to change this situation." Mr Morikawa
Just days before the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for Nihon Hidankyo, the association of atomic bomb survivors in Japan, please join us to hear the story of second-generation nuclear survivor from Hiroshima, Mr Seishi Morikawa. Mr Morikawa is visiting Naarm/Melbourne and will share his testimony with the ICAN Australia community online.
Mr Morikawa is the Deputy Director of the Kanagawa Atomic Bomb Sufferers Association, a member group of Nihon Hidankyo, and is working to achieve better financial support for second and third generation survivors in Japan. His presentation will open your eyes to the devastating intergenerational impacts of nuclear weapons.
This will be our last event of the year and we will take a moment with our Co-Chair Dr Margaret Beavis and Director Gem Romuld to look back upon the year and look forward to our goals for 2025, the 80th year since the terrible dawn of the nuclear age.
