HOCHUL: STAND UP FOR CLIMATE - New Yorkers Speak out at the State of the State

Start: Tuesday, January 13, 202610:30 AM

End: Tuesday, January 13, 202601:00 PM

Location: Empire State Plaza S Mall Arterial, Albany, NY 12242 US

We are going back to Albany on Tuesday, January 13th during Gov. Hochul’s State of the State address where she will share her agenda and vision for New York in 2026. We will share our vision for New York and speak up for the climate, health, environment, energy costs, clean air and clean water.

This year, Gov. Hochul has been caving to Trump and the fossil fuel industry, doing an about-face on our state's environmental leadership and breaking New York’s climate law.

She approved the 3x previously rejected NESE fracked gas pipeline, green-lit a gas-powered crypto mining facility in the Finger Lakes, caved on the all-electric buildings act, rejected crucial clean energy transmission projects, and just last week, approved an "all of the above" state energy plan that ignores mandates under the state climate law and instead seeks to invest in more natural (aka fracked) gas, more nuclear, fails to advance policies like cap & invest, and completely ignores thousands of public comments from New Yorkers asking for an urgent ramp up of renewables and off fossil fuels.

While our movement has been dealt many blows in 2025, we are happy to see the Governor’s advancement and signing of the 100 foot rule repeal law. The repeal of the 100 ft. rule will benefit New York ratepayers pocketbooks and help the climate.

While we take time to celebrate this long fought win, we are still sliding down a slippery slope of bad climate, health and environmental decisions.

We are going backward, not forward in New York State.

See this letter sent to the Governor here, urging her to stand with New Yorkers, not polluters. The letter calls on her to rescind these fossil fuel approvals, enforce our climate law, and uphold New York’s legacy of environmental leadership.

We will be calling on Governor Hochul to ramp up the advancement of renewable energy and renewable energy transmission lines, electrify our buildings, deny dirty fossil fuel projects, stop pushing risky and expensive nuclear energy and FOLLOW THE CLIMATE LAW. She should be working on behalf of the interests of New Yorkers, not corporate polluter profits.
