How do we create a local food network - discussion and bread and soup lunch

Start: Saturday, February 22, 202012:00 PM

End: Saturday, February 22, 2020 2:00 PM

Pea Pod Veg

Join us for a discussion about local food production as well as what we could be doing to cut down food waste.

Emily O'Brien is Policy & Partnerships Manager for Brighton & Hove Food Partnership. The Food Partnership is nationally acclaimed for its work to join the dots in the food system strategically alongside practical projects like their successful Community Kitchen.. She will talk about The Surplus Food Network, an alliance of organisations tackling food waste by working with suppliers to distribute surplus to people in need in Brighton, Hove and surrounding areas. There is the beginnings of a similar network in Hastings, how could we expand that?

Abby Nicol is the founder of Pea Pod Veg: A working example of small scale organic agriculture feeding our local community. How do we build on that to create a local food network?

We will finish off with some bread and soup made with veg from Peapod  (small donation requested).

This event follows on from our AGM which runs from 11 - 12. You are welcome to attend that as well but it is also fine to just turn up for the talk. Please spread the invite to anyone who might be interested, no need to be a Green Party member or supporter!
