Third Act Oregon is offering an interactive online training “How to Pass the Oregon Climate Resilience Superfund Act” on Wednesday, January 28, 6 to 7 PM Pacific Time.
The training will feature Michael Richardson, Third Act Central’s new Campaign Director, who with many other Third Actors played an important role in the successful campaign to pass New York State’s superfund bill, and Catherine Thomasson, MCAT’s Lobbying Coordinator.
When you register for this event, please provide your email address, a street address (so we can invite folks to join teams to visit particular leaders), and a phone number (optional) for the sign-up.
The training will center on how to talk with local elected officials to offer them a new source of revenue to meet the escalating costs of dealing with and protecting citizens from extreme weather events owing to climate change.
Talking with city and county leaders is the strategy that worked in New York State where cities and counties across the state were faced with these costs but lacked the resources to pay for them (as in Oregon). The legislators in Salem will listen to local leaders who support the bill.
Third Act Oregon, with members distributed across the state, is well-positioned to do this.
