Start: Friday, September 27, 201911:30 AM

Young students around the world are calling on millions of adults to join their global climate strikes on September 20 and again on Sept. 27. With the United Nations hosting a Climate Action Summit in New York starting on September 23, students are calling for action to address the impending climate crisis. Join Climate First! in Silver Spring, Maryland on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 as we show our support for the student "strikers" with a climate strike vs. JPMorgan Chase Bank, the largest investor in fossil fuels of any bank in the world. Coincidentally, on this day in 1962, the environmental classic, "Silent Spring," by Rachel Carson, was published, and would, in part, lead to the modern-day environmental movement. With climate change presently causing ecological and economic havoc world-wide, the message of "Silent Spring" is more relevant than ever. We'll meet at an outdoor sculpture dedicated to Rachel Carson and her seminal book for short presentations and reflections. Then we'll march to the nearby JPMorgan Chase Bank on Georgia Ave, where we'll call on the lender to start divesting from climate-wrecking fossil fuels.
