January 7th was a day full of great sadness, but also celebration.
Renée Nicole Good was murdered by an ICE agent while lawfully observing them. Since then, thousands of people have taken to the streets in solidarity with Minneapolis and against the violence that ICE is carrying out in communities all over the country.
That same day, in a victory for our movement, Avelo Airlines announced they would be dropping their contract with ICE to run deportation flights in response to a 9-month boycott coordinated across 40 cities.
Because of thousands of people showing up - petitioning, protesting, and disrupting - DSA chapters in coalition with labor and immigrant rights groups made the Avelo brand synonymous with deportation and human rights abuses, forcing them out of 37% of their routes and showing that collective action can make a difference.
Join us on Wednesday, Jan 21 at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT to hear from DSA organizers in Twin Cities about how we can support their work on the ground, and from DSA organizers across the country as well as representatives from Brasil about the win against Avelo airlines, and how solidarity against ICE deportations is an international struggle.
