Marshalls play a crucial role in any street action, march or protest. This workshop is essential for anyone wanting to Marshall at our Rebel4Life events. It will give you an understanding of effective Marshalling and help you gain confidence to be part of XR Vic’s Marshalls team.

Topics covered:

·       The role of Marshalls

·       Being prepared

·       Maintaining focus

·       Maintaining access for passersby

·       Ensuring road safety for all

·       De-escalating tension

·       Facilitating Emergency vehicle thoroughfare

·       Sharing responsibility for taking care that events are consistent with the values and principles of XR.

·       Taking care of ourselves and each other

You will need to prepare by familiarising yourself with Extinctions Rebellion's demands and principles, which you can find here: What is XR - Extinction Rebellion Australia (ausrebellion.earth).

The event will take place in the Drill Hall.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are new to XR VIC, we strongly recommend that you attend one of our regular introductory sessions - Heading for Extinction and What To Do About It - and our Nonviolent Direct Action and also De-escalation training, before you attend the Marshalling training. These can be found under Events at https://ausrebellion.earth/ . You can also watch a "Heading for Extinction . . ." video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVjjRHarTM8

Covid safety
Covid still hasn’t gone away so, if you’re coming to the Drill Hall, we are asking you to take a RAT test and to seriously consider wearing an N95-or-higher mask indoors.  N95 masks and surgical masks, RATs and hand sanitiser will be available at the Welcome Table.

Let's keep each other safe to keep on rebelling for life.

If you have any queries, or if you can no longer make it after you have booked, please contact xrtrainingvic@protonmail.com
Level access is via the Victoria Street exit/entrance which unfortunately must be opened from inside the building. Please call Judy G on 0400 582 343 to request access. Apologies for this clunky system.
